VITAL VETTEL LEADS STUNNING FERRARI IN RUSSIAN GP 2017 FINAL PRACTICE

Banner 1 Image Source:  SANVERSPORTS.COM Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel maintains his top position in the final Russian GP 2017 practice at Sochi, while Lewis Hamilton starts in fourth. The German recorded a 1m 34.001s on the ultra-lax Pirelli tyres, 0.337 seconds faster than team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Even though, Ferrari faced a stiff challenge from Valtteri Bottas, who was 0.363s adrift in third, and 2-10ths ahead of Lewis Hamilton, his Mercedes team-mate. However, his pace in Russia so far indicates towards a changing of the guard, with Hamilton’s Mercedes having subjugated the sport for the last three seasons. On the field, both Ferrari and Mercedes set out on the compound quite early in the session to know how to use their tyres in the most efficient away ahead of qualifying. Although Mercedes seems to have improved upon their one-lap pace predicament on Friday – Ferrari still has a plausible advantage over one lap for the first time in 2017’s season. The oft-quoted reason for this Mercedes dominance is the presence of a powerful extra engine mode they can fall back on for the vital one-off laps that decide the grid. It is pertinent to mention that Mr. Vladimir Putin – President of Russia – will be a guest of honor for tomorrow’s Russian GP race.
